FYI! Chicken crosses road. Just for some fun tonight...?
Answers To The Question: "Why Did the Chicken cross the Road?"
Pat Buchanan: To steal a job from a decent, hard-working American.
Machiavelli: The point is that the chicken crossed the road. Who cares why? The ends of crossing the road justify whatever motive there was.
Timothy Leary: Because thats the only kind of trip the Establishment would let it take.
Carl Jung: The confluence of events in the cultural gestalt necessitated that individual chickens cross roads. This brought such occurrences into being.
John Locke: Because he was exercising his natural right to liberty.
Albert Camus: It doesnt matter; the chickens actions have no meaning except to him.
The Bible: And God came down from the heavens, and He said unto the chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road." And the Chicken crossed the road, and there was much rejoicing.
Fox Mulder: It was a government conspiracy.
Freud: The fact that you thought that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.
Darwin #1: Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically predisposed to cross roads.
Darwin #2: It was the logical next step after coming down from the trees.
Richard M. Nixon: The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did not cross the road.
Oliver Stone: The question is not "Why did the chicken cross the road?" but is rather "Who was crossing the road at the same time whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?"
Jerry Seinfeld: Why does anyone cross a road? I mean, why doesnt anyone ever think to ask, "What the heck was this chicken doing walking around all over the place anyway?"
Martin Luther King, Jr.: I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads without having their motives called into question.
Immanuel Kant: The chicken, being an autonomous being, chose to cross the road of his own free will.
Grandpa: In my day, we didnt ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken had crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.
Dirk Gently (Holistic Detective): Im not exactly sure why, but right now Ive got a horse in my bathroom.
Bill Gates: I have just released the new Chicken 2000, which will both cross roads AND balance your checkbook, though when it divides 3 by 2 it gets 1.4999999999.
For those who may not understand this post, it is just a injection of humor for the evening and for those who may have other contibutions of other well known people who might explain why chickens seem to be predisposed to crossing roads.
Answer: Timothy Leary: Because that's the only kind of trip the Establishment would let it take.

I need people who were born in the 1950s?
I have to interview people who were born in the 1950s and since I dont have any grandparents I was wondering if people could help me out. The questions are listed below. Thank you to the people that help.
1.State your name. What was your approximate age and occupation in the year 1960?
2.Do you remember the Cold War of the 1950s and 1960s? Discuss how you felt about the existence of Communism in the world.
3. Do you remember the Cuban Missile Crisis in the fall of 1962? What were your feelings during those days?
4. What was your opinion of President John F. Kennedy? Do you remember where you were the day of his assassination in 1963? Please share your memories of that time.
5. What was your opinion of President Lyndon Johnson?
6. What was your opinion about the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War?
7. Did you (or your family) own a television during the 1960s? If so, what were your favorite 1960s TV shows? Why did you choose those shows?
8. Do you remember the African American civil rights movement of the 1960s? For example, do you recall the August, 1963 March on Washington in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech? Do you remember any other events related to the civil rights movement in the 1960s? What was your opinion of the civil rights movement?
9. What was your opinion of the 1960s women’s rights movement?
10. Did you attend the 1969 Woodstock Festival? If so, what was your experience? If not, what was your opinion of the festival and the 1960s youth counterculture?
Answer: Actually, I was born in 1943, so I don't know if I qualify for your Survey, but being older I may have a better grip on it. So i'll do it anyway.
1) Steve - 17yrs of age, In High School and worked Part time for my Uncle's Orthopedic Store
2) The Cold war brought about allot of fear of Communism and that Russia would cause a War with the United States. I felt sure that it would spread
3) The Cuban Missile Crises, holds special meaning to me because I was in the US Army at the time and put on Alert to go to Cuba if need be to fight Our bags were packed, trucks loaded and ready to depart to the air strip.I remember calling home and telling my Mom I may be going, It was scary for a young boy of 18,
4) President John F Kennedy's assassination is another very vivid memory for me, I had just moved off the Army base with my new Bride,In Clarksville Tennessee, the Delivery man was hauling in our TV set and said to us, The President was just shot, That really floored me, Again I was on alert and ordered back to base for briefing on what may happen next.
I for one Like President Kennedy, he was sharp, young and knew what the people wanted,
5) Lyndon B Johnson, to me was a shifty, not to be trusted President, I did not like his politics
6) Vietnam, was a sad time for america, we got dragged into a war that was not just, many of my friends lost there lives there. We fought not to win, but placate politicos,
7) We owned an Emerson TV, and before entering military service in 1962, we watched, The Ed Sullivan show, Ozzie and Harriet, Our Miss brooks, Disney Series, Wrestling, Steve Allan talk show,
American Bandstand. These shows were family oriented, had variety, non-violent, fun,
8) Martin Luthar King jr, was a non violent activist for Civil Rights, I recall racial tensions and one incident in Brooklyn where the National Guard had to be called to quell the rioting. I enjoyed the I have a dream speach and the March was a successful one, I do believe that King made great strides for civil rights for Blacks, I admire him and his works,
9)The 1960's were a turbulant time for many women, what with the burning of the Bra's and equal rights in the work place etc, it turned men on there ear, Women, going from passive to aggressive and standing up for themselves led to a rethinking by men as to a womans role in society.
10) Ah, The Festival at Wood Stock, What a wild drug crazed event,, NO I did not attend, thought about it briefly but realized the sheer folly to even attempt it,.To be honest, the free love aspect intriqued me some but not to a great extent, I was never into the Drug culture so was not in tune with the youth movement at the time, Did not really approve of what they were doing, then again I was Married and in my late 20's had 2 kids, a job, and settled
Hope I helped you with this,? if not , hey I enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane, Best of Luck

Will you please proofread my english paper?
Carpe Diem. These two Latin words are interpreted by the Roman poet Ovid as, “to enjoy,” but are often translated as,“Seize the Day.” When I hear the words Carpe Diem, I remember a specific event in my life. I can recall the events vividly because they happened recently. It was Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and my school had the Monday off. I was skiing in New Hampshire like I do every weekend in the winter. On Sunday, my dad reminded me that he and I had to go to Boston for my lacrosse practice. Lacrosse is my favorite sport and I take every opportunity I have to play it, but I was nervous to go to this practice.
The team I was going to go practice with is called NESLL. It is a club lacrosse team and there are kids from all over New England who are a part of it. The reason I was nervous to play with the team was because the kids on the team all knew each other and had been playing together for a long time. I was the new kid. Also, I wasn’t sure that I was going to do well because I hand’t played since the summer and I had a new stick.
My nerves kept building up over the next day. All I could think about was that I was going to mess up a lot and not do good. I thought that I was going to do bad and then all the other kids who have been playing together for the past 5 years would think I wasn’t good. I thought about just not going and staying in my bed the whole day pretending I was sick. With all my nerves, I even began to actually feel sick.
I went to bed early that night thinking a good night sleep would help me with my nerves. It didn’t help at all. I was still nervous in the morning and what made it worse was that it was 6:00 AM. I had to wake up early because we had to drive 2 hours to get to the field. My dad and I got into the car and started driving. We picked up some food at Dunkin Donuts and then I had an hour and a half to think about my practice.
I knew I had to overcome my fear and forget about all the bad things that could happen at practice and think optimistically. I quickly made a playlist on my iPod of some of my favorite pump up songs, put my headphones in, and listened to the music. The long car ride helped a lot because I had time to think about things with no interference from anything else. It was just me and my thoughts. I realized that I would be fine and that I was probably going to have fun playing my favorite sport for the first time in four moths. I began to not care about how I played.
I looked at the GPS and it said we had 10 minutes until we got to Harvard Stadium where the practice was being held. We finally pulled into the parking lot and my nerves were gone. I was shocked that I had overcome them, but I was happy. I walked into the giant inflatable dome that surrounded the field and was happy to see a lacrosse field again. I went over to the coach and he gave me a brand new practice jersey and some socks that had the NESSL logo on them.
All the other kids were already dressed and on the field warming up and stretching, so I hurried to get my pads on. Normally being late would make me very nervous, but for some reason I had completely conquered my fears and I was not nervous at all. I ran over to the group of kids and the coach was leading a stretch. I jumped right into the line and did the stretches the coach was telling us to do.
After we finished stretching we started some drills. We did a drill called a star drill and I was familiar with it so I went to a cone and was first in line. Normally I would never choose to be the first one in the line, but today was different. We started passing the ball and the first couple of passes I threw weren’t great, but they were okay. Once we went around a few times in the drill, I was passing and catching very well. Then we moved on to a dodging drill. Just like in the star drill, after a few times doing the drill I started to do much better.
The same thing happened in all the drills and when the coach said practice was over I was disappointed instead of feeling relieved like I expected I would. I thanked the coaches then walked over to my bag with some of my new teammates. We were talking and laughing and then I put my pads away and left. It was over and I had fun. It was the complete opposite of what I thought it would be, but I was very happy.
When I was assigned this project and I read the rubric, the first thing I thought of was this experience I had. It was a day in my life where I took control and “seized the day.” This day really tested me, but I pulled through and came out on top. I know that next time I am in a situation like this, I will be able to persevere through it even easier because I know that it doesn’t matter how well you do something, you just have to have fun.

How Should I Plan My MLK, Jr. Day Event?
I would like to plan an event for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day which is coming in a few months.
I need this event to be a minimal size; more than 10 people. Id invite my friends but I just moved to this city and I do not have many friends.
At this event I would like to pass along MLK, Jr.s ideals about peace and nonviolence and have a little discussion about them then serve some of MLK, Jr.s favorite foods.
I need to figure out who to invite to this event. Kids? young adults? Working adults?
Who would need to learn this message of nonviolence more and how would I go about teaching it to them?
Here are the 6 principles of nonviolence: http://www.cpt.org/files/PW%20-%20Principles%20-%20King.pdf
Answer: The person who answered before me is correct but I'm not understanding his point. Yes his name was Michael, but he legally changed it to honor Martin Luther after a trip to Europe. Regardless of what MLK Jr did in his personal life, he was a catalyst of change for the African American race which is why he is being honored to this day. It's so easy for African Americans to look past what Caucasians did to them in the past and keep moving forward to equality but when 1 African American person should be honored due to the changes he evoked in history, a Caucasian person freely points out his flaws as if he is the only prominent figure in history who has them. We already knew he had flaws, a lot of his flaws are taught along side his accomplishments. So...what's your point? To Lesa, I'll email you ideas.

Why dont whites celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day?
I am very sad. I am a 22 year old white female. I have always gone to the Martin Luther King Jr Parade, and participated in other events which were sorrounded by the civil rights movement. The sad thing is that when I go to the parades, I never see other whites there. I have wondered why. Many of the whites want to take advantage of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday by not going to work, or school, but not once do they think to participate in the MLK activities.
Fellow whites, why do you do this? Do you think that MLK day is not important? Dont you realize that not only did MLK bring about changes for this country, but helped us all realize that we can all live together equally. However I see many whites at other parades, and activities. But its like they believe that MLK day is only for blacks. However many people benefited from this, including blacks and whites. What do you think?
Answer: SWEETIE, MLK IS NOT A BLACK HOLIDAY! HE FOUGHT FOR EVERYONE!

For homework we were supposed to write a news report about an event in history. I chose the day that the "i have a dream speech" was given. Were supposed to make the news report as if we are there on that same date. help me improve please ! Remember this is august 28 1963!
Please tell me what you think, how can i improve ?
Just moments ago, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. , the famous African-American civil rights leader delivered his first publicly broadcasted speech since his release from jail. More than 200,000 people gathered at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech. The words that Dr. King spoke today, had a captivating effect on most of the people who heard him. The key message in his speech was that all people are created equal and he demanded that the future provide everyone with racial equality. He argued passionately and powerfully. No one knows how this speech will affect the outcome of future laws and the civil rights movement. What is known is that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is considered by many not only an advocate of equality, but a person who had and will change society.
please answer !
Answer: This is very strong, which is probably why nobody has commented on it yet. I would put a good conclusion statement in there. Wrap it up. But very strong.

Answer: If I call someone's office and they're not there and I say "call me during the day tomorrow," I'd be referring to what we think of as typical business hours. Some people mean "during the day" to be around the middle of the day--during business hours but not right up at the edges of them, as in "first thing in the morning" otr "at the end of the day," so it might mean any time between 10:30 and 3:30.
As for the colors representing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (with whom I share a birthday and thus wound up doing a lot of reports on as a kid), you are correct--purple is for royalty--in other countries. The name was a coincidence; he was very humble and not royalty any more than The Fresh Prince of Bel Air or Queen Latifah or CNN's Larry King or John King--or Burger King are.
MLK was an American civil rights leader. I'd go with red, white and blue.

EDIT THIS PLEASE!!!!?
Can you please edit this intro/defining event paragraph about the 1960s? Fix any grammar problems, spelling, punctuation, etc.
And, if you can, please help me think of a good(maybe catchy) conclusion to this paragraph, that sort of leads into the next paragraph which is on Politics of the 1960s.
Thank you!!
The 1960s was a decade of drastic change including many defining events. One event that changed society was the civil rights movement, known as the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It helped with voting rights and eliminated discrimination of all types, such as discrimination against skin colour, race, national origin, religion and sex. Some of the main features of the act included freedom to vote, the use of all public places, encouragement of desegregation of public schools, authorized withdrawal of federal funds from discrimination practicing programs, and creating of the E.E.O.C. President Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were very important to the Civil Rights Act. Kennedy gained support for the act in a televised national address, later proposed the act, and then on July 2nd, 1964, he got President Johnson to sign the bill. On the other hand, King was the one who raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement. He did this by delivering his speech “I Have a Dream” at the 1963 March on Washington. That day he proved himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history. Over all, the civil rights movement was one of the most defining events of the 1960s because it made progress towards decreasing discrimination, strengthened voting laws, and more. Many years ago the Civil Rights Act was very important to the African-Americans. Today, it still is, as it’s made a big part of black history.
Along with this major political event, there was several other(more minor) political events, too.
^^ would that be a good lead in to the next paragraph on politics?

Is Google Against Veterans?
Anybody who visits Google.com on most holidays, and lots of other "special" days, will often see a unique logo for that days event.
St. Patricks Day, Persian New Year, Bastille Day, Earth Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Leap Year, and many other days get special logos (see for yourself: http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html )
However, on Memorial Day this year, they didnt have any thing special to honor our troops, veterans, and all of those that have helped make this country what it is today.
Is this a 10-year oversight (it doesnt look like theyve ever had anything for this special day), or is there something more to the story here. You would think if they can celebrate Frances Independence Day and Persias New Year, that Google could at least do the same for our Memorial Day.
Whats your thoughts?
Answer: My kids were just asking me that yesterday. How come doesn't Google have their name decorated. We went through many holidays and figured that even international holidays are recognized. So what is up with that? I was quite disturbed by it also.
