Sunshine Debate: Five Things To Watch In Tonight’s Florida GOP ...
The Republican presidential candidates are stepping up Thursday night for another round of debates — this time in the big swing state of Florida, ahead of the state ...
Ron Paul for 2012 - How likely is it, now that he has received 40% of the votes in a straw poll?
I have watched the entirety of the GOP Debate @ New Hampshire, and I (like many others) was very impressed with Dr. Pauls thorough analysis and insight upon getting this nation back on track. A straw poll has shown that 40% support Ron Paul. Does he have a chance to catch up to Romney (the front-runner) and beat him? What is your opinion of Ron Paul? How likely is he to win against President Obama?
Thank you for your input!
Answer: Still not very likely, I'm afraid. His "Hands Off" philosophy of government is still pretty much at odds with the majority of Republicans, who seem to desire a more activist conservatism.
I like what he says in theory; but I suspect it would be particularly difficult to implement in the current political climate.

The Ron Paul FREEDOM PRINCIPLES
Rights belong to individuals, not groups.
Property should be owned by people, not government.
All voluntary associations should be permissible -- economic and social.
The governments monetary role is to maintain the integrity of the monetary unit, not participate in fraud.
Government exists to protect liberty, not to redistribute wealth or to grant special privileges.
The lives and actions of people are their own responsibility, not the governments
Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution.

CHECK HIM OUT!
Answer: I find it funny that the ones that think he's a nut job are the very ones screaming about the widening gap between the rich and the poor. I guess they prefer socialism. Frankly i would prefer to carry just my family and my own weight for a change. Put me down as one of those "Nut jobs" alongside Dr. Paul. If he is the definition, I'll gladly accept that title.

McCain Falsely Claimed That He Won Among Republicans In NH And SC
In Tonights Debate, Sen. McCain Falsely Claimed That He Won The Republican Vote In Both New Hampshire And South Carolina:
MCCAIN: "But Look, I Won The Majority Of Republican Vote In Both New Hampshire And South Carolina." (MSNBC, [Unverified Transcript], Republican Presidential Candidate Debate, Boca Raton, FL, 1/24/08)
However, Sen. McCain Lost In Both New Hampshire And South Carolina Among Self-Identified Conservatives And Republicans :
McCain Lost Among Self-Identified Republicans In New Hampshire. "In New Hampshire, a state McCain had won in 2000 and lavished time and attention on this time around, he lost self-identified Republicans narrowly -- 35 percent to 34 percent -- to former governor Mitt Romney. But, it was among independents where McCains winning margin came as he won that bloc by 13 points over Romney." (Chris Cillizza, "McCain And The Closed Primary Challenge," Washington Posts The Fix, http://blog.washingtonpost.com/, 1/24/08)
McCain Lost Among Republicans In South Carolina. "In South Carolina, McCain lost Republicans by a statistically insignificant margin, but carried independents by a massive 42 percent to 25 percent margin -- ensuring his narrow three-point victory." (Chris Cillizza, "McCain And The Closed Primary Challenge," Washington Posts The Fix, http://blog.washingtonpost.com/,1/24/08)
Conservatives Are Wary Of McCains Past Tendencies And Willingness To Team Up With Liberal Senators. "McCain has long had difficulty currying favor from his partys conservative wing. Despite his solid voting record in the senate, many ardent Republicans have been unhappy with his past willingness to team up with liberal Sens. Russ Feingold on campaign finance reform and Ted Kennedy on immigration." (Alexander Mooney, "McCain Brushes Aside Suggestion Of Weak Republican Support," http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/20/mccain-brushes-aside-suggestion-of-weak-republican-support/, 1/20/08)
"Support from the base will be crucial in upcoming contests: McCain now faces a bevy of state primaries where independents are not allowed to participate, beginning with Floridas vote on January 29. But the Arizona senator is predicting that his support among veterans, his economic proposals, and his record on environmental issues important to many Floridians will carry him to victory there." (Alexander Mooney, "McCain Brushes Aside Suggestion Of Weak Republican Support," http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/20/mccain-brushes-aside-suggestion-of-weak-republican-support/, 1/20/08)

Fmr. WH Spokesman: GOP Debate Was About Who Would Turn Back Clock The Farthest
Robert Gibbs attended the Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire Monday night, but the longtime Democrat made clear his candidate wasnt among those up on stage.
The former White House press secretary makes clear that he is rooting for his old boss, President Obama, and he says he doesnt like what he saw at the first GOP candidates debate.
Seven contenders for the 2012 Republican nomination faced off in what is likely to become a long series of encounters between now and next year. Tea party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota used the event to officially kick off her presidential candidacy.
Each member of the GOP field "nodded along when one called the Obama administration a destructive force, and they said nothing when another said the President has embraced our enemies," says Gibbs, who left the White House earlier this year.
"Last night was a wake-up call to anyone who thinks they can sit tight while the Republicans battle each other for the nomination: The campaign to defeat Barack Obama and roll back his entire record is well underway. And thats the one thing on which all of their potential candidates agree," says Gibbs in an email which also served as a fundraising appeal for the Democratic National Committee.
"It was seven against one," Gibbs says. "Since the President wont be speaking for himself at one of these debates until next year, our best response is to show the Republicans that when they attack Barack Obama, it only makes us fight back harder."
Viewed from Democrats eyes, Mondays debate was about "about which of their candidates would turn back the clock the farthest," Gibbs says.
"They came out for re-fighting the battles they lost on Wall Street reform and the health care law. They backed reinstating Dont Ask, Dont Tell," he says. "They even talked about abolishing the Environmental Protection Agency -- and phasing out Social Security and Medicare.
"They actually spent time debating whether they think Sarah Palin would have made a better vice president than Joe Biden (spoiler alert: They still think so!)."
The debate also was notable for what wasnt discussed, Gibbs adds, saying "the words education and middle class were never uttered even once.
"If you were watching at home, you might have thought it was a re-run from four or eight years ago," he says. "Most of these people are full-time candidates with nothing to lose and nothing to do but keep pushing to take us back to the failed policies of the past."
Answer: Yes I agree, the Repubs are still trying to appeal to the same old "I want my country back, by jingo, you betcha!" crowd. Basically conservatives hate progressives and the opposite of progress is to regress. The fact that this is the modern world and we have to deal with it as it is today does not occur to them. They want the"good old days" back even if they forget the effects of rosy tinted glasses and the old days were pretty bad for a helluva lot of people.

Anyone watch the GOP debate last night?
I agreed with Mike Huckabee that the question about creationism was unfair and has nothing to do with the presidential debate. It seems hypocritical to me that atheists constantly complain about how Christians put religion into politics and how Christians would never vote for for an atheist President....yet, clearly creationism is a HUGE issue for atheists and they look down on any person running for President that believes in it. I have an atheist friend that says he was disgusted when he heard Huckabees response to that question and called him an idiot. The guy is a minister, what did atheists think he was going to say? Why cant atheists just respect the fact that there are people...good, honest, smart people...that disagree with them on this issue? If atheists want Christians to respect their non-beliefs, perhaps atheists should take their own advice and practice what they "preach"
Answer: They did great! They Stood Strong was not weak on the issues, understand we are in a war with radical Islam they are why we should be proud to live in the greatest nation

A possible GOP ticket in the making???
After watching the Florida Republican debate I started to determine who I could see myself voting for.
What do you think of Romney getting the nod and Huckabee becoming his runningmate?
Answer: Bingo young lady.
You are right on target.
Write it down.
Hillary has nothing on either one of them so she'll have to lie beyond even her ability to gain any traction.
A large number of her supporters will not vote for a Republican but they will be too embarrassed to cast a vote for Satan and will stay home.
The Obama supporters are only there for him. They will not vote either. They don't see Hillary as a choice worth leaving the house for.
Take it to the bank.

ROSE: All right. Ive got one last question, one last question, with 30 minutes...
PROTESTOR: (OFF-MIKE)
ROSE: One last question...
PROTESTOR: (OFF-MIKE)
ROSE: All right. One last question, as we close this evening, and, each of you, 30 seconds. What is it about you that you want to connect with the American people, in their both despair and in their hope for the future that says something essentially about who you are?
And I begin with Congresswoman Bachmann.
BACHMANN: Im sorry, Charlie.
(CROSSTALK)
SANTORUM: A little distraction.
(LAUGHTER)
---
What was that "Protestor" saying?
Answer: He was asking why didn't any of the candidates say anything when the gay soldier was booed in one of the previous debates.

Why do conservatives consider themselves "christian" but deny charity?
Now dont bag on me, because Im 16, and Im only a self-declared liberal. I have no college degree, and Im stating this fairly, as well as being a christian myself.
Now I watch every GOP debate, I keep an open mind, Im fascinated by politics. What floors me is that the department of education has become a subject of these debates, and an accepted one.
To my knowledge, the Department of Education (a valuable service, and a worth-while one) puts six million special-needs children in school, ensuring that they will have programs to suit their needs. My brother, a patient of severe autism, is one of them.
So why are conservatives cutting it down?
These special needs children arent the "lazy" or "undeserving" they preach of. My brothers I.Q has gone up exponentially with schooling (I live in Detroit, mind you) and this wouldnt be so if teachers didnt work with his infant mind for 7 hours a day, teaching him colors and shapes that I learned in kindergarten.
So conservatives consider themselves christian?
Why deny children of the basic charaties, no, NECESSITIES they deserve?
I hope this provokes someone to realize their tax dollars do lie somewhere, in my future and my disabled brothers.
because Im sixteen I know nothing? Excuse me, but I know people over 50 who know nothing. George Bush was one of them, Idiot.
Answer: Gee, I would have never imagined that you were a liberal, living in Detroit and posting a question in the UK section is sure to get you all the answers that you seek.
You claim that George Bush didn't know anything, yet at the time he was elected you would have been maybe 5 years old. Your entire premise about George Bush can only come from listening to the people that gave birth to you.
It might be of interest to you to know that Christians donate a much larger portion of their money than liberals do.
Are you a Bible believing Christian? What do you think the Bible says about people that have money?
Give me a verse.
The Department of Education is NOT needed at the Federal level, it is needed at the state level because it is a states issue and not a federal issue. That is why there is talk of getting rid of it. Why should the US Tax payers have to give away their hard earned money for a purpose in which the state is already taking their money for the same damn thing.
Open mind myass, your mind is closed like a steel trap, it has been infected with the media and your parents own views.
Someone needs to work with your infant mind, you should be looking at the issues in your own city and be asking what the hell are our city government officials doing to help us. Oh hell no, it is easier to blame the republicans for all the ills of the Garbage Dump you live in despite the fact that Detroit has had a democrat leader for the past 40 years. Detroit is ruled by unions and unions are supported by democrats. You guys have exactly what you deserve.

Some want to open our southern borders to more criminal violence. Immigration plans will open doors to more immoral illegal aliens. Mexicans launder drug money in their numerous casinos, found in all major cities, cock-fights, bullfighting arenas and fairs. It's big business in Mexico.

Who would be a better choice for the GOP vote?
I like to consider myself center right. I dont totally agree with everything most Republicans say but my beliefs are fundamentally Conservative. I have been watching the debates closely cause i really believe this election is going to be very important. Of all the choices so far here is what i got.
Newt, Career politician, been around a while and is extremely smart, but because hes been around a while i think the good old boy network may be too thick for anything to change.
Ron Paul, another really smart guy. Has zero plans in concern to foreign policies. He is center friendly but will the extreme right folks support him.
Rick Perry, There is something about this guy that bugs me. Mainly i think his mouth doesnt match his expressions. Kinda like when your mother in law gets u an ugly sweater. Your mouth is saying u love it, but your face tells a different story. However his state hs a booming economy with pretty low unemployment rate, but did he do this or inherit this?
Michelle Bachman, Im a combat vet. Did 11 years in the Marine Corps before i was Medically retired from being wounded in combat. Its easy for The Commander in Chief to send troops into combat against Bedouins with AKs, but to send troops to combat against a Professional military like China, Korea, or Iran, I cant see any woman being able to make that decision.
Finally Cain, he has zero political experience, yet is an extremely successful business man. In todays economy maybe thats what we need. He comes from a very Common sense approach, but will that be enough to pull this country out of its nose dive. After all the last guy with no experience that got elected didnt do so hot.
I gave u a very short summary of what i have gathered from the candidates to show u my frame of mind for each. Who would u vote for out of this lot?
Sorry so long.
Oh forgot about Mitt, Mitt has been running for the last 5 years. My issue with him is MSNBC loves him. This leads me to believe they think Obama canbeat him, and unfortunatly so do i. He doesnt say anything that stands out to me. He, to me, if there was a picture of a politition in the dicionary he would be it.
Answer: Personally I'd like to see Cain with Newt as his running mate....Cain has the common sense and business/economic experience we need to pull the country out of its nose dive...and Newt has the "in" with the good ole boy network that is D.C.

Tonight, Tuesday, November 22, the GOP will hold its 14th Republican and Tea Party debate, this time sponsored by CNN.
Have your thoughts on the candidates changed over the last few GOP Debates?
Obviously there have been several debates between the candidates over time. Now, out of curiosity, have you changed your mind on any particular candidate(s)?
Ive only been following up the debates (havent had time to formally watch), but to me Romney is still has a good grip in all of this so that really hasnt changed. I still think Ron Paul has been kind of "dismissed" per se. For a while it was Perry/Romney, but Herman Cain has definitely grabbed some spotlight lately. RP hasnt really been focused on as much, IMHO. I am not a Herman Cain fan, but I will say he has really made a name for himself and brought some issues to the table that were kind of, interesting, to say the least.
What are your thoughts?
Answer: Yes.
I originally thought there was no chance in Hell I'd ever vote for Newt, but he is growing on me. Not my favorite, but he is better than some of the others.
I originally thought Perry would be a decent candidate. However, after watching him in the debates I think he is a total train wreck. There is no way I'd ever vote for him in the primary.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Santorum too. I didn't think I would like him, but he is growing on me.
All the rest are pretty much what I expected.

what are ron pauls chances this time around?
I lean left however i think his economic/forgien policies are what are necesariy at the moment. I am willing to vote for him in the general election over any democrat.
I know last election he was as long shot, but looking at the wackos running this time around i think there may be a possiblity, i am watching the debates looks like gop has turned around, lots more people want out of the war in afganstasn etc romney has changed his tone
so what are the odds if any at all,,,
I LOATHE obama i dont want him to be relected.
Answer: Im sorry to You nay sayers. Mr. Ron Paul, raises good campaign money. Has a strong support base which grows daily. Wins straw polls. Is the only candidate to offer forth some brutal truths to the cause not only the effect of We the Peoples domestic problems.
This campaign, Mr. Paul has a strong ground game, early fund raisers, high profile legislative endorsements, GOP fellow candidates who literally are echoing Mr. Ron Paul's stead fast platform, supporters not only from 1 "party related team" but supporters who are democratic, libertarian, republican, and all others. Most importantly, all those people who feel kind of "snowed over" by all the failed campaign promises of Mr. Obama, realize now that ideology and rhetoric never supersedes track record. Walk the walk and talk the talk. Mr. Ron Paul does just that.

Republican Debate: Five Things to Watch
What to watch for during the Republican presidential debate on Wednesday night.
Why is GOP Gary Johnson left out of the CNN Debate Tonite?
Former New Mexico governor and Repoublican presidential candidate Gary Johnson will not attend the Republican presidential debate hosted by CNN.
“You’re not going to hear any candidate propose a balanced budget for the year 2013, which is what I would be proposing,” said Johnson, a former New Mexico governor. “We’ve got to cut $1.65 trillion worth of debt, so that’s the difference between me and the rest of the candidates — talking about Medicaid, Medicare, talking about the reform to Social Security, talking about cutting Defense spending.”
The debate, which is hosted by CNN, has invited a number of Republicans, some of which have yet to officially announced their campaigns, a move that has drawn criticism from both Mr. Johnson and a number of media personalities.
Among those invited to the participate in the debate include Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, businessman Herman Cain, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
Ms. Bachmann has yet to declare her candidacy, leaving many to claim the debate is simply a move to boost ratings.
A number of Republican leaders were also extended invitations, the news networks said. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and Donald Trump were also extended invitations. Mr. Daniels, Mr. Huckabee and Mr. Trump publicly announced their intentions not to run for president, while Mr. Huntsman declined the invitation, CNN said.
What gives?????
What you think about this???
Are you gonna Watch the Debate????
Answer: There was a certain amount of polling you had to make to be invited. i think it was 5%

When are the Dem candidates going to at least mention Inner Cities?
Ive watched every debate.. and seen the Clinton New Network (CNN) go crazy for Hillary with punditry, ebb & flow with the days events as it relates to the Campaigns... and I realize that theres HARDLY AN INNER CITY in either Iowa or New Hampshire... nor issues that I live with, in New York City... but, come one now.. Obama is from "Chicago" and Hillarys base is NEW YORK, right? when the heck is this election going to at least mention and gloss-over subjects -- that are challenges to the Inner City? (or, is the GOP going to get around to it, first with Rudy taking the lead?). You know, I half WANT Mayor Bloomberg in, as early as possible to support NYCs issues as he knows them -- and has accomplishments along with Rudy to speak of (what Hillary does for a living, I have NO IDEA)...
Answer: They're more concerned with talking about "change".
Granted they never say what or how they'll "change" anything, but I think we all know they all support "change".
