Are Manny Pacquiaos biggest wins under more scrutiny?
ive noticed that since saturdays massacre, various boxing sites are now taking a closer look at mannys record. duh, i was questioning it long ago! pactards have accused mayweather of ducking, cherry picking, and other nonsense, but now that floyd has destroyed a big, strong, talented true welterweight, now people are saying "hmmm, manny never fought shane mosley, and except for that punching bag clottey, manny made oscar de la hoya and miguel cotto come in drained, so what her he really accomplished?" "and hatton and oscar had already been beaten down by floyd, so what does that really mean?" "and did pacman really deserve a decision and a draw over juan manuel marquez"? i have been saying on this forum ad nauseum that it does not matter how many awards manny has won. this is a fickle sport. i recall after hagler was outboxed by leonard, as controversial as the decision was, and no matter how dominant a middleweight champ marvin was, i did hear "well, marvins biggest wins were over smaller guys, like mugabi, hearns and duran". sorry pactards, thats just the way it is.
sorry, "kiss my jones", from real, non partisan boxing fans and sites.
Answer: PacMan is OVER-RATED, HIS RECORD IS FRAUDULENT.

Pacquiao Takes Decision, but Doesnt Win Over Fans
LAS VEGAS -- For much of his welterweight title defense on Saturday, Manny Pacquiao heard from the MGM Grand crowd a unified sound rarely belted at his boxing matches. As Pacquiao and Shane Mosley tapped gloves, made small talk and generally engaged in a glorified sparring session, the crowd, once rowdy, once standing, once into it, simply booed. - By GREG BISHOP

Am I the only one who likes the idea of a Pacquiao-Mosley fight?
I think that if the fight with Mayweather cant be made, a Pacquiao-Mosley fight would be a good alternative. People will criticize Pacquiao for fighting Mosley after Mayweather defeated him, but it wasnt like Mosley was destroyed and knocked out. He was just...embarrased by Mayweather. But Mosley did show that he still has warrior spirit in him, even if hes getting older. Just look at Round 2.
I also have this feeling that Mosley wanted Pacquiao a lot more than he wanted Mayweather. If this fight is made, I feel that Sugar will be super motivated to win the fight. Pacquiaos the fight he wants, and hes gonna go all out to prove to the boxing skeptics that he can still bring game to the ring. Just like how Margarito was determined and trained hard for the Pacquiao fight to redeem himself and prove that he is still a big topic in boxing (he failed miserably, though).
Also, I dont really believe that its possible to gauge how much Mosley has left based on the Mora fight. That fight was fought at light middleweight, where Mosley has not been particularly successful. Mosleys light middleweight highlights are a close decision win over De La Hoya and two wins over Fernando Vargas. Two of his losses (to Winky Wright) come from that division. Another fight at Welterweight would better gauge how much gas Mosley has left.
And, Im not exactly sure there are any other opponents for Manny other than Mosley and Mayweather. I highly doubt Pacquiao would be willing to fight Williams or Martinez. Not because hes ducking them, but simply because the size advantage is far too much. I think Williams and Martinez would beat him solely based on the fact that he is too small and cant handle their overwhelming weight. The idea of a 9th world title is attractive, but its not enough to convince Pacquiao, a natural junior welterweight, to move up to middleweight.
The only other guy of interest is Marquez, and hes two weight classes below Manny. Everyone else wouldnt really stand a chance against Pacquiao. Andre Berto is a good champion, but even he (or maybe it was his manager) believes he still needs one big fight before he could challenge Pacquiao. Cotto was already beaten and Arum is looking to match Cotto and Margarito again. Alexander and Bradley are good, but theyre junior welterweights. Bradley had one fight at Weltweight, and was far too wild against Abregu. I think Pac would dismantle of him easily. Alexanders last win, a decision over Kotelnik, is very iffy.
So all in all, Pacquiao-Mosley is the only real alternative, because Mosley is a far better draw than Berto/Bradley/Alexander. Though Marquez is another good alternative.
Answer: I would say that yes, you are.
Mosley is not what he used to be, Pacman will KO him.
The only fight I'm interested in is a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout.

Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao Old question new perspective?
Ok before I start off ranting I have to say im a HUGE Miguel Cotto fan.
In this mega fight I see a very tough fight for both fighters. MIguel Cotto has the better chances in my eyes though for a few reasons.
1) Miguel Cotto is a natural welterweight
2) Miguel Cotto is clearly the strongest of the two
3) Miguel Cotto has excellent counter punching abilities
4) Miguel Cotto has experience with fighters much faster than him
5) Miguel Cotto is tougher than Manny Pacquiao (its fact look at both fighters record an watch their fights)
6) Miguel Cotto is way smarter than Pacman in the ring
7) Miguel Cotto adjust with any fight style
... i can go on and on all day
i notice everyone under estimate Cotto because of his last 3 fights saying he lost his heart, hes not over margaritos beating, hes damaged goods and its just BS to me because how can you say hes not psychologically fit to fight an over confident phillipino. are you a psychologist? no. If so have you study Cotto? if not then STFU.
his fight against Jennings was nothing but the Clottey fight was his test and guess what he passed with one eye, literally ONE EYE for 9 rounds.
yea it wasnt Cottos best fight and that 115- 111 score was retarded but he still won a VERY close fight because he knocked Clottey down in the 2nd round with a straight left or was it the 1st round?
any ways...
Miguel Cotto had tougher fight with tougher and stronger opponents in the last 3 years than Pacquiao (he got lucky against JMM)
Now lets talk about the Phillipino warrior Manny Pacquiao.
6 world championships in 6 different division wow thats amazing if you ask me but those titles werent won in the welterweight division
Manny Pacquiao is a GREAT fighter i cant take that way from him but hes fighting a man that can punch much harder than anyone he ever fought in the past. Im gonna talk about the fights that made Paquiao the P4P king, yes im talking about De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton but lets start with JMM...
Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 1 & 2 both great fights and very close but its funny to me that it was so close. the reason for that is Pacman knocked JMM down like 3 times 2 in the first round in their first fight so youll expect Pacquiao to win that fight right...WRONG!!! JMM came back out boxing Pacquiao for the rest of the almost stealing the show rocking Pacman "man of steele" in numerous occacions, so now tell me how can Pacquiao deal with another boxing technician like Miguel Cotto who is stronger than JMM...
Pacquiaos big win against De La Hoya impressive? I think not... I dont think I have to give my opinions for you to understand that statement...
Pacquiaos impressive KO win against Ricky Hatton, Can I say amazing? Yes, but it was predictable... that fight was too funny because he wasnt listening to his trainer and was fighting like a ameture looking for a one punch KO... now tell me thats a skilled boxer with a straight face...
from the words of Kendall Holt "Pacquiao gots the general public fooled" not exact words but same meaning
to me Pacquiao does have you fooled... hes becoming over confident and has distractions in his training camp
Miguel Cotto is gonna come in this fight more prepared and its gonna show... Pacquiao thinks Cotto is gonna be an easy win well hes wrong it only takes one punch to end your night from a real welterweight... Pacquiao hasnt proven himself in the welterweight division and its sad that hes ranked higher than great fighter based on a win against a weight drained out of prime De La Hoya its rediculous
Cotto can lose by TKO doctor stoppage due to cuts and by decision but thats the only way I see him losing... I cant see a knock out loss.
I can see Cotto out boxing and countering Pacquiao as he comes inside all night and knocking him out in the later rounds. yes i said later rounds because Cottos conditioning is gonna be at his best..
tell me what you think about this. tell me who will win and how
Answer: I don't think any fighter will over power the other. This fight is probably the most even match-up that could take place. They are going to grind out till the last bell rings. You can't compare Cotto with Hatton. Cotto may get stunned but he can regain himself pretty quickly. Cotto is going to be the smartest, still in his prime, fighter Pac has fought to date. Yes Cotto will have to overcome Pacquiao's speed but Manny doesn't have the luxury to sit on his punches and delivery power shots on Miguel like he did with Hatton. Cotto's punching power is a real threat to Manny who will have to approach this fight like the De La Hoya match. As the fight goes on he may be able to launch more power shots but I don't see that happening until like round 8 or 9. Cotto is no slouch and he will make to the end of the fight and so will Pac. May the best man win the decision.

Is Pacquiao avoiding "slick black fighters"?
this may or may not be true, but why is it coming up so much?
By Jamal Dicky
I have to give Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, the congressman from the Philippines, his props for taking it to Antonio Margarito on Saturday night in Texas.
I didn’t buy the fight, but I did watch it at a friends house, cause I was boycotting the Pay-per-view because of Antonio Margarito getting a license to fight again and collect $3 to 7 million win or lose and the simple fact that Manny Pacquiao refuses to take Olympic style random blood testing against Floyd Mayweather Jr .
We shouldn’t reward someone who was caught cheating with illegal handwraps one of the most unforgivable sins in boxing. That is attempted murder, but no use in complaining since Manny took care of business and busted the Tijuana Tornado’s face so badly including his orbital bone, which required surgery.
However, I wasn’t fully impressed with Manny Pacquiao’s win over Margarito. It was nothing new, I seen Manny go against that same type of style — big guy, no foot work, no head movement, no hand speed, slow and predictable. It’s a way to sell Manny to the masses as this invincible little man who can take out giants, but the hardcore boxing fan is still waiting for Manny to fight a different style of fighter — a slick African American boxer with speed and accuracy.
I believe that Manny Pacquiao’s handlers — Freddie Roach and Bob Arum — know that their fighter’s kryptonite is Slick black fighters. It’s been known through out history the best fighters in boxing are African American fighters.
When Manny moved up to 135 he fought the weakest of champions, David Diaz, for his WBC belt, and won the lightweight strap by knockout. Pacquiao cut Diaz up so bad and knocked him out in the 9th round.
That belt had no significance. The man at the time was Nate Campbell who won the lineal title from Juan Diaz. Juan Diaz held the distinction as the man at 135 pounds until Nate Campbell beat him up in a lopsided decision that took so much out of Juan that he was never the same again. Arum avoided making a super fight between Nate Campbell the real champion at 135 because he was too risky for Manny to fight, instead, he decided just to let Manny fight David Diaz who was also Arum’s fighter.
Manny Pacquiao is a product of proper image publicity and matchmaking similar to Lady Gaga, a pop singer who uses gimmicks to capture the attention to make people believe she actually is the most talented singer when she is just a studio creation, take away all her outlandish clothing and make-up you are left with a basic singer with no personality or outstanding voice.
As Pacquiao went up in weight he was pit in with Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito — all are flat footed, come forward boxers with no slick defensive skills and either coming off a loss or horrible performances.
The moment that Manny and his people put him in there with a slick African American boxer, people watching will see the truth and Manny Pacquiao’s weaknesses will be exposed.
The closest thing to a prime slick fighter that Manny fought was Juan Manuel Marquez, and in both fights Manny Pacquiao lost on the majority of ringside observers cards, but he was gifted a draw in the first meeting and a split decision victory in the second.
Marquez was able to counter Manny with the right hand, throw fast combos in succession and prevent the Filipino dynamo from implementing his ferocious style. Marquez isn’t as fast as a Floyd Mayweather Jr., Andre Berto, or Timothy Bradley but he was still quicker than Manny and hit him all night.
I see Manny Pacquiao having the same problems he had with Marquez but worse if he ever stepped in the ring with the three black boxers mentioned above.
Manny only looks fast when he is put in with slow guys who don’t have any head movement or foot speed. Marquez had quicker combo’s than Manny and faster punch timing.
Pacquiao reminds me of Julio Cesar Chavez, He fought Meldrick Taylor in a controversial stoppage win, and he fought Pernell Whitaker a fight that Pernell should have won but was robbed by the judges.
Chavez had trouble with slick black fighters and got exposed in both fights. Manny will face the same fate the moment he faces one of these guys faster than him and with quick counter punch combos.
The remedy to defeat Manny Pacquiao is out there, but will we ever see Manny Pacquiao face one?

Why do I dislike Juan Manuel Marquez? Why do I think he is overrated?
People may say I hate Marquez. I hope I dont offend any Marquez fans here. That is not the case my friends. In fact I am a huge fan of Erik Morales and the Baby Face Assasin Barrera. When Erik Morales beat Pacquiao, I gave him all the props and I never criticized him at all! I congratulate Mexico for breeding such a great boxer in Erik Morales, arguably the second best Mexican fighter in history behind JCC.
Consequently, the reason I do not like Marquez is for the fact that he is overrated. He should have not struggled against the 37 year old Casamayor and he was 5-1 betting top dog against Juan Diaz but he lost most of the rounds until the KO. I was there in Houston when I watched that fight. JMM’s biggest victory was against Barrera, but he clearly lost that fight. Lederman had the score 114-113 Barrera and that includes the 2 point deduction, which would have had the score 115-112 Marquez, because one round would have been 10-9 Barrera instead of 10-8 Marquez. I had the score 115-112 Barrera, and that includes the 2 points deduction, without it, the score would have been 117-111. Barrera landed more punches 262 to 255, and more power shots. Barrera was barely getting off a huge loss to Pacquiao by way of TKO and he proved he was still a great fighter and BEAT Marquez, but he was robbed by the judges!! One judge had the score 118-109. WTF! But anyways, most boxing sites think Barrera was robbed!!
Now Marquez gets away with that win, fights Pac to a draw, and Lederman had the score 115-110 and one judge making a mistake of the 10-6 and gives a 10-7 with the knockdowns. It is an exaggeration when people say JMM outboxed Pac, when he landed only 10 more shots the whole fight, and which will help you win points, 3 knockdowns or 10 more shots? Then JMM ducks Pac and fights Chris John. The sweet science had the score 116-110 Chris John. None of the judges nor the referee were Indonesian! In fact the ref is Hispanic! The judges scored it 116-112, 116-110 and 117-111, it was not a close fight. I watched that freaking fight and I saw John winning decisively, not close, not by split, but by unanimous! When the fight was over, JMM walks to his corner disappointed, you can tell he knew he lost and John celebrating as his trainer where jumping up and down with joy and that’s before the decision! The second fight with Pac was close, I thought Pac won 114-113, but I didn’t mind if JMM won because it was super close.
What I don’t like about JMM is when he lose he thinks it’s a robbery. When he gets a judges gift, he takes the victory. He insults his opponents, he never give credit nor compliment guys that beat him. He talked trash against John saying his people are racist, and disrespecting Pac by going to Manila and claiming he won both fights in front of Filipino people. I am fully 100% certain his close fights with JMM were flukes. He will never be above the betting odds nor analysts will pick him to win against Pac, who is barely getting to his prime while JMM is 36 years old. What has JMM proven? Was he a clear winner against Pac, Barrera, and John? If he beat Pac twice as some of you may think, why isnt he the p4p champ? Isnt that what u get if u beat the top p4p king? Wasn’t he expected to beat Diaz and Casamayor anyway since he is way up in the betting odds, but he still struggle? Did he ever fought Erik Morales, the king of the featherweight division?
@ Hani, pls provide me evidence that says or believes that JMM won both fights with Pac? Plus you said Barrera was past his prime when he fought Pac, they why was he in the top 6 P4P ranking and Pac wasnt even in the top 10 list in 2003. Plus why was Pac the underdog in the LV betting odds? Was Morales past his prime to when he won or only when he lose thats when he was past hims prime eventhough he was only 27-28 at that time? Was Manny on his prime at that time or he hasnt even reach his prime yet? Pls explain with more details, thanks!
@ greatness, so do u think JMM will KO Pac in their third fight?
@ soul squeeze, this is just a friendly debate, you are still on my contact list because we have discussed many boxing stuff here together!
@ Andrew, Im sorry if I offended you. I know you are a hardcore JMM fan. I didnt mean to offend you man! I am not making any excuses for Pac, he lost clearly to Erik Morales but I dont believe he lost twice to JMM. That is really what get to me when they say that without any evidence. Plus Andrew, I have asked questions many times that is not related to pac, I am a boxing fan but just like most of us there is always that one boxer that stands out from the crowd.
@ Andrew, I didnt attack anyone here nor I said any derogatory statement against someone, I just said what i feel, and I provided sources not just say things that have no credibility. I have no intention whatsover to discredit JMM for what he has done, but he didnt beat Pac, John, and Barrera in my opinion! Muchas Gracias amigo!
@ desperateboy. Ive been a fan of boxing even before Pac arrived. Erik Morales is my favorite fighter like Marco Antonio Barrera. I have never said JMM is not talented but pls tell me what is his most importan victory and who has he beaten convincingly. Second, also provide me some stats and a bit of his history to make this debate more convincing. Third, He did disrespect pac by going to Manila and claiming he won the fight. He said pac is scared of him. He never said a single compliment of Pac and he said Pac is not the p4p champ its mayweather. If that is not disrespect, I sense jealousy. In all my post, I always provide support and evidence, not just personal opinions. Thanks for your time!
Answer: wow! I think this is one of the most thorough questions I have seen on here lol
First of all you can't say Marquez struggled against 37 yr old Casamayor because Casamayor was the top lightweight in the world at the time so of course it should have been a tough fight for Marquez. Plus Marquez is only 2 years younger than Casamayor.
The first fight against Pacquiao I agree with you about. The judge admitted he scored it wrong and Pacquiao should have won. His fight with Chris John was definetly a loss for Marquez. Yea it was close but not close enough to be called a controversial decision.
For me the fight against Barrera was closer than the official score card suggests. Barrera was the better boxer in the early rounds but Marquez controled the fight from the 7th onwards. I would still give it to Marquez but by a very close split decision.
The second Pacquiao fight was very close and could have gone either way
Marquez has had a lot of close fights, not just wins but losses too. His loss to John was kind of close and his loss to Norwood was very close as was his loss to Pacquiao. All in all I would have to agree with you that Marquez is overrated. He has beaten some good boxers such as, Medina, Barrera, Diaz, Casamayor, Polo and Juarez but he hasn't fought anywhere near the caliber of boxers that Pacquiao has fought and yet he is concidered to be as good if not better than Manny by a lot of people. I think his two close matches with Pacquiao has a lot to do with this. If Pacquiao had clearly won one or both of their fights then Marquez wouldn't be as highly thought of as he is now. Having said that, I still think Marquez is one of the best in the world and would still place him at number 3 in my p4p top ten simply because there is nobody else good enough to be there at the moment

Answer: To me these are the main factors to control the outcome of this fight....
1) Pacquiao has the speed advantage.
2) Pacquiao has a bigger work rate...more punches.
3) Cotto lacks defensive skill.
4) Cotto is a straight forward fighter with no speed to avoid Pacquiao's combination making him an easy target.
5) Cotto has a young trainer who showed corner confusion in their last fight, while Pacquiao has one of the best working relationships in boxing history with his cornerman Freddie Roach.
6) Cotto is fighting at a catch weigth which mean he will have to shrink down to the weight and that usually makes the fighter smaller, weaker and slower...thereby giving away his only real advantages (size and power).
This is my analysis of the fight...
Manny is going to win an easy fight. It will be a bull vs. matador fight. Cotto has the power advantage but will never really hit Pacquiao much for the entire night because Pacquiao is wayyy faster (not just hand speed but foot speed. It will be a TKO in the 10th or 11th due to cuts. Cotto is a bleeder. He is also still psychologically damaged from his Margarito fight. He has a new inexperienced trainer who isn't up to this challenge. He also will be sapped of energy because he agreed to fight at a lower weight and he is a big welter weight. Clottey has exposed him as very vulnerable
One additional note...Cotto is the bigger stronger guy and one may wonder if Pacquiao can take his blows. Pacquiao and Roach aren't insane. he will not stand in front of Cotto and just trade. Cotto will have a hard time finding him to hit him. His footwork...lateral movement will make him very elusive
second additional note: Notice Pacquiao isn't fighting Cotto at 147. It is for the reasons that Cotto is bigger...they are going to dehydrate Cotto making him smaller and weaker and taking away his 2 major advantages before the fight ever takes place.

Cotto vs. Pacquiao- Knowledge vs. Bias- Who will win?
I am a die hard Miguel Cotto fan but I give my views on both sides of the ring...
Miguel "Junito" Cotto- a boxing technician with deadly stone like punches, known to neutralize fast hands with effective counter punching abilities... his weakness presure fighters and upper cuts
Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao- The pound for pound king with incredible hands fighter than the speed of light, slick foot work, going up weight classes dominating opponents.
Im tired of hearing that Pacquiao is going to dominate Cotto...
im guessing that everyone forgot Pacmans performance against juan manuel marquez.... how can you knock someone down more then 2 times and still lose the fight to a draw honestly.... Pacquiao was out boxed and if Ive seen enough Cotto fight hes probably gonna be out boxed again
im comparing Cotto to JMM all im saying is Cotto is a smart boxer unlike Hatton
to me Pacquiao hasnt proven anything in the welterweight division, wins against DLH and Hatton were some what interesting but not suprising nor thrilling... ive been called a Pacman doubter but i had him to beat Hatton(because hes over rated) and DLH(weight drained and past his prime)
Cotto needs to work on his defense for sure everyone knows that
Cotto is gonna come to this fight prepared because he already started training and no contract has yet to be signed... personally i think Cotto should hire emanuel steward for obvious reasons...
If you think Cotto is going to win tell me why and please be LOGICAL...
if you think Pacquiao is going to win tell me why and please be LOGICAL...
dont talk about his past fights because experience will no the key to victory so please keep Morales and JMM in ur pocket because different fighters... besides JMM would be a terrible reason because Manny was out boxed in a fight where JMM came back for 3 knockdowns to get a decision(EMBARASSING) and won the 2nd fight that couldve gone either way
If you think im wrong please call me out on it and prove me wrong... please i wanna be challenged on this topic
dont say that Cotto looked like a different fighter in his last fight because of coarse hes gonna look different with a gash above his eye (which is gonna play a part against Pacman)... you cant use that fight as a negative because Cotto showed massive heart going the distance win a really really really close fight...
thank you and ill be waiting for you opinions
so far i agree and disagree with many things
one thing i disagree with is one person said that manny will applie pressure...THATS RETARDED... if Pacquiao applies presure hes gonna get rocked, freddy roach even says that they rnt gonna go in the looking to exchange punches with Cotto... I also see Pacquiao using the same game plan he wused with DLH but the problem is Cotto isnt gonna apply presure like DLH but im hoping Cotto boxes smart like usual and go for the body in numerous occasions...
yea ummmm just because manny pacquiao is the pound 4 pound king doesnt mean hell destroy everyone let alone miguel cotto and if you think pacquiao is gonna be to powerful for cotto YOU ARE F*CKIN RETARDED
everyone knows that Cotto is gonna have that advantage... DLH said he doesnt hit that hard he was dehydrated and was out boxed
but other then that ITS OFFICIAL...
Answer: "Cotto's best shot is a lot more powerful shot than the 2 punchs that KO'd Pac". Well.....DUH! Elmer, I know you are trying to sound logical, but to me, you just sound like a hater, but hey, thats me lol.
Logically, there is no way any fighter can be perfect defensively, the meaning of "perfect" defense is you never get hit.
Ok, here is my analysis and prediction: As some good points that Elmer said, Pacquiao is a fast starter, I just don't see how Cotto could handle Pac with his face wide open, and his gloves to the side. That straight left will get Cotto once in a while, but that obviously won't put Cotto down.
I see Pacquiao using the same tactic he used against De La Hoya where he gets in and gets out before getting hit by anything solid. I know Cotto is not De La Hoya, but that is the obvious tactic that could work. I see Cotto trying to brawl with Pacquiao, using the "more powerful punch, than the 2 punches that hit Pac more than a decade ago". Cotto would land a few punches here and there, but they won't be solid, since Pac's amazing footwork cannot be tested.
In the Early rounds, Cotto would have gone through Hell already, but he is still standing his ground with that solid chin of his. He will land a solid punch here and there as I said, some may daze Pacquiao, but the difference is he bounces back immediately. I see the cut from the Clttey fight opening up in the mid-rounds due to Pacquiao's quick combinations and lead lefts. I see the ring doctor stopping the fight, or Cotto getting KOed for some reason. But this is just me, I can't wait till November 14th!

By Nick Tywalk It figures that on a night when work prevented me from doing a live round-by-round blog for the Alfredo Angulo-James Kirkland fight, I missed out.
Famous one hit wonders in recent memories?
Antonio Magarito- yes he beat Clottey but I wont call it a legendary victory. Margaritos victory as an underdog over the heavily favored Cotto is what made defined his career. Other than that, I dont see any.
Ricky Hatton- His legendary KO of Kosta Tzu was enjoyable. His destruction of Malignaggi was expected and Castillo was often considered a shot fighter. (love Hatton but Im just being realistic)
Nonito Donnaire- KOs Vic Darchinyan and all of a sudden he is in the top P4P list. But I dont see anyone else impressive in his resume.
James Douglas KOs Mike Tyson -no explanations necessary
Juan Manuel Marquez- I love this guy, but I dont see Rocky Juarez, Juan Diaz, or Casamayor as legends of the sport which he was an overwhelming favorite to beat all of them. Plus many people felt he was give a gift decision against Barrera who outboxed him and knocked him down too. Barrera was considered "shot" in that fight and was an underdog as recently before the bout suffering a devastating TKO against Pacquiao. His fights with Pacquiao is really what boosted his legacy because they were close. But there is no one elese in his resume that his "great".
Joe Calzaghe- His defeat of Mikkel Kessler was a classic but who else really? Kessler is a good fighter not great. However, Calzaghes SD victory of Hopkins gained him some popularity in the U.S despite of it being controversial and close. His victory over RJJ have been tainted by the media as RJJ considered being a has been.
Chris John- He outboxed Juan Manuel Marquez. I saw that entire fight and if you look at stats round by round, John won convincingly. But many people thought Marquez could have done enough to win one round at least. After Johns victory, who else, Juarez, please give me a break?
Rafael Marquez- May be the most overrated fighter in the p4P list. Being a Golden Boy fighter helped him a lot, but no way he should be ranked that high. His one victory of three fights with Israel Vasquez all of a sudden made him a top fighter. Who has he beaten that is great other than Vasquez?
Zahir Raheem- a fluke victory on Erik Mor...never mind, I said famous.
Anyone else I may be missing or you would you like to add further info?
I hope I dont offend anyone with the list from their favorite fighters, I have no intention whatsoever! Just being a realistic boxing fan. I am a fan of all these guys except Margacheato of course.
@ Soul to Squeeze, if im worng please prove me by a more credible statement and defend JMM. I apologize if I offended you but calling me a hater is unfair. I am merely implementing opinion, dont discredit me of that. Hatton is one of my fav fighters top 10 and i put him on the list and Nonito came from my country. Check out my statements about Marquez when I have given him credit many many times, but those were overlooked. That is rather unfair dont you think?
