Does the fact that John Boehner walked out on the DEFICIT TALKS prove that President Obama is not a Christian?
If President Obama was a Christian, then Boehner would have stayed and worked out a deal.
Now the country is going into default.
Answer: No, the fact is the republicans want to end programs the middle class and working poor depend on, like medical care, baby milk and food for children, so the wealthy can have more money to spend on toys for rich boys. They need private jets and yachts so they can create jobs in China. Whose side do you think God is on? Do you think God would take milk and food away from children and health care away from the elderly so Cantor and Boehner can give oil subsidies to big oil who makes a million dollars profit every minute.

Why does the government always talk about the yearly deficit and not the overall debt of the economy?
We never actually hear what our countries actual debt is from the government and news reporters. Why is this? Is it more significant to talk about the deficit than the debt and if so why?
Answer: You do have a fair point, however the yearly deficit determines in what direction the national debt is headed i.e. if things are getting better or worse.
Neither of them can be considered in isolation, for example, a nation with a huge national debt might seem economically unstable, however if the government is running a considerable budget surplus, that indicates that the situation is improving and there is not as much cause for concern.

Why did Eric Cantor quit the deficit reduction talks ?
Does he not understand that we have to cut spending and raise revenue if they are going to accomplish anything ?http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_usa_debt_cantor
Answer: He realized the issue was suicide for the Republican party. The US has the lowest tax rate in the world. The overwhelming majority thinks that taxes should be raised on the rich and Social Security and Medicare should be made sustainable through adequate funding.
The fact is that cutting "spending" results in cutting revenue. The more you cut spending, the more revenue decreases. The budget cannot be balanced by spending cuts alone. ∠°)

What do you think of GOPs defeat in the DEFICIT TALKS?
An American win??
Answer: Cantor reminds me of a spoiled, rich kid who throws a temper tantrum every time he doesn't get his way. He isn't exactly being a team player by continuously interrupting the president and behaving bipolar. Obama said he is willing to put his job on the line. All politicians should be willing to put their jobs on the line and do the right thing for the American people.

Why is the largest deficit reduction package in the Oval Office talks President Obamas NOT the Republicans?
Tea Partiers/Tepublicans are saying they are more worried about Deficit reduction. So, I ask : Why is the largest deficit reduction package in the Oval Office talks President Obamas NOT the Republicans?
Answer: President Reagan started all of this with the promise that he could balance the budget by spending MORE and taxing LESS. The lower taxes, he said, would stimulate the economy so much that they'd not only pay for themselves but cover the rest of the spending. This was like one of those fad diets where you lose all the weight you want by eating nothing but chocolate and bacon.
It had the charm of never having been tried. I guess it sounded good to a lot of people. But it was spectacular failure. In two terms Reagan tripled the entire pre-existing national debt. Well into his second term, after having only doubled the debt, he was still insisting his tax cuts would stimulate the economy enough to balance the budget! AND his tax cuts went overwhelmingly to the richest people. I got $2/week, and my FICA rose $20. My boss got $30,000/yr.
The Republicans had so much invested in this dumb idea that they had no Plan B and still don't. They're still insisting, even to this day, that the only way to balance the budget is to double defense spending every year and keep giving huge tax cuts to gazillionaires.
The ONLY president since Reagan who made good on the perennial Republican promise to cut budgets, reduce deficits, and get us on track towards a balanced budget was a Democrat! Bill Clinton did it. He did it by raising the tax on millionaires from 32 to 36%. If Clinton had been president one more year we would have had a balanced budget. Instead GW Bush came in and he just couldn't wait to undo all the good work Clinton had done. With a big tax cut for the rich, what else? He insisted on maintaining these tax cuts through two expensive wars. And he doubled the national debt once again. It took him two terms, but it was a lot bigger by then.
So the thing is: Republicans only care about the budget when they're out of power. They always run as strict budget hawks but once in office they decide debt simply doesn't matter.

When Obama talks about cutting the national deficit in half by the end of his first term?
Is he talking about the deficit from the years prior to this years deficit? Or is he talking about this years deficit? If hes talking about this years deficit, then wouldnt that mean it would still be higher than any year Bush was in office? And speaking of cutting national deficits in half, isnt he going the opposite direction so far?
Answer: "Deficit" refers just to the difference between how much money the government receives in taxes and how much it spends on programs in one given year. The "debt" refers to all the cash America owes because of the many years its government ran a deficit.
So if he halves the deficit (I believe he was using 2008 as a reference point), then it will definitely be smaller than at least some of the Bush deficits; however, the debt will be larger since we'll be borrowing more money in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
It's a very unfortunate state of affairs, but halving the deficit in four years is going to be a challenging goal to meet in and of itself. This year's budget will have a massive deficit because of the stimulus, but most of the programs created in it will expire by 2012 and won't thus be paid for, and a lot of the taxes will either either expire or be rolled back as part of an effort to start cutting the deficit.
It would be nice to stop adding to our national debt, but the goal is actually a good starting point.
