Analysis: Focus on social issues risky for GOP presidential candidates
The longer GOP presidential candidates compete for conservative activists' favor, the more they risk alienating centrist voters who might feel that arguments over birth control are crowding out talk about how to create jobs.
Is Donald Trump doing whatever it takes to be Republican Presidential candidate?
He keeps harping on Obama birther issue even though media and other provides the documents.
Answer: After 3 years of listening to all of this Birther bullshit I have come to one inescapable conclusion. All Birthers suffer from a deliberate form of reality distortion as they let ideology and/or racist sentiment override reason and facts. As lifeforms they for me hover somewhere slightly above pond-scum and should be taken about as seriously - The Donald included. Here are the FACTS about why President Obama has never presented his "real" original birth certificate.
In 2007 Barack Obama's campaign office requested and received a copy of his "short form" or "certification of live birth record from the state of Hawaii. This is the standard form that every person born in Hawaii receives upon request. This was subsequently released to the public by the Obama campaign. The certification the campaign received, using information from the original long-form birth certificate indicates he was born at 7:24 PM on 8/4/61 in Honolulu.
In October 2008 the Republican governor of Hawaii Linda Lingle (who had endorsed John McCain for president) asked the head of the State Department of Health, Dr. Chiyome Fukino whom the Republican governor had appointed to that post to make a public statement in response to internet rumor-mongering about presidential candidate Barack Obama being born in Kenya and not Hawaii. Dr. Fukino personally inspected the original "long form" birth record or "record of live birth" which is stored properly and in the correct numbered order in the state Department of Health records. It was half-typed and half hand-written and signed by the doctor who delivered Mr. Obama. She then released a statement authenticating the validity of the document.
In July 2009 Dr. Fukino reviewed the document a second time and again released a public statement attesting to its validity. And that's not all. Joshua Wisch, a spokesman for the Hawaii State Attorney General's office noted that in the public index of vital records, which is available for inspection at the Health Departments Office of Health Status Monitoring, the birth of a child named Obama II, Barack Hussein is listed. Both of Honolulu's newspapers printed birth announcements, the Honolulu Advertiser on 8/13/61 and the Honolulu Star Bulletin on 8/14/61 with both announcing he was born on 8/4/61.
The reason President Obama has never "released his original birth certificate" is that it is not his to release. It belongs to the State of Hawaii and state law does not permit the release of "vital records", including a copy of an original "record of live birth", even to the individual whose birth it records. There is no provision in the law according to the State Attorney General's office to even allow for a photocopy to be released. That is why instead the state of Hawaii issues the "certification of live birth" instead.

Where do the 2008 Republican & Democratic Presidential candidates stand on Gay & Lesbian issues?
Answer: They stand on a rickety fence of wishy-washness.
Clinton took the unusual step of distancing herself from her husband, who signed into law the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. DOMA allows states to decide whether to recognize same-sex marriages and prohibits the federal government from recognizing such marriages. Clinton recently announced that she would repeal the federal provision, arguing it could threaten the federal benefits of gay couples. Obama went further, saying he would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act altogether.
On other issues, most of the candidates are in sync with the gay and lesbian community -- and have gone beyond their previous positions promoting gay rights. All support the following ideas:
Repealing former President Bill Clinton's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, which prevents openly gay people from serving in the military;
A federal law which would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity;
Extending federal benefits to domestic partners;
Extending the federal Family and Medical Leave Act to same-sex partners;
Changing the Social Security system to provide survivor benefits for same-sex partners;
More funding for HIV/AIDS;
Expanding the federal hate crimes law to include crimes based on sexual orientation;
The REAL Act, which would establish a federal sex education program that includes information about condom use.
Gays support Dem candidates, but want action
Democrats to court gay voters at forum
Senate nixes gay marriage ban
Still, some candidates have managed to get themselves into trouble with gay and lesbian constituents this year. Both Clinton and Obama fumbled when asked about the statement by then-Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Peter Pace, who said homosexuality is "immoral." And New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who has pushed through laws strengthening gay rights in his state, was forced to explain something he said on the now-defunct Don Imus radio show: Exchanging barbs with the shock jock, Richardson called Imus a "maricon." A gay lesbian group said that is Spanish for "faggot"; Richardson insisted it just means "gay".
The Republican presidential candidates, some of whom support a ban on same-sex marriage, declined to appear at tonight's forum. None wanted to comment on the Democrats' decision to be there.

How will the Republican Presidential candidates adapt to Obamas military tactics?
If you remember back to late 2007 before the 2008 primaries, then candidate Obama made a speech where he basically outlined his position for going after terrorists overseas. Obama, an opponent of the 2003 decision to invade Iraq, made it clear that he supported smaller operations against terrorist targets in foreign countries, with or without the consent of those countries governments. He was widely criticised for these remarks, from the left and right. They were largely regarded as naive, with Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney both going after him. Romney even jokingly referred to Obama as "Dr. Strangelove".
Still, these tactics of smaller operations against terrorists, put into place by Obama, have culminated in killing Osama Bin Laden, who evaded US capture for ten years following the 9/11 attacks, throughout the entire previous administration. Obamas strategy seems to be vindicated. The Republicans have continously portrayed themselves as stronger on terrorism issues than the Democrats, so you have to wonder, particularly with those who criticized Obamas propositions in the past, how theyre going to react and change their positions going forward.
I guess I just wonder about Romney in particular. But everyone, both sides, was having a field day with Obama at that point.
Answer: Most of your responses will be from brain washed conservatives that are still fully convinced that liberals are soft on national defense. It is a misconception that they have held for several decades, and are now just mad because Dubya couldn't get it done. Obama said what he would do almost 4 years ago, and he got it done. bush said he would do it, then decided Bin Laden was no longer a threat 6 months later, and even dissolved the CIA group dedicated to finding Bin Laden. Bush dropped the ball, as he did for most of his presidency.

Have the Republican candidates become an embarrassment to American politics?
Republican presidential candidates seem to be ethically challenged, willing to say and/or adopt the most ridiculous stances on social, economic, and political issues, lie, in an effort to get the attention of the media. They all seem to have their turn rising to the top of their lobster heap until some truth from their past is revealed. Cain lovers are now whistling and pretending they never heard of him while declaring their next great white hope/hype, Newt, is their star. Newt has a problem with facts and the truth; hes also shown himself to be corrupt and blinded when money is waived in front of him. His brilliant plan to eradicate poverty is to create a paternalistic government that declares all people not rich are mentally and socially "flawed" (the same theory he was tauting as Speaker of The House while relying upon the book "The Bell Curve" to substantiate his position) and therefor should be left to fend for themselves while government redistribute wealth to those in the top tier. And now you have a Republican businessman/entertainer, Donald Trump, being considered by Republicans as a bona fide semi-journalist who is qualified to moderate a debate between only TWO of the Republican candidates! Its got to be awfully embarrassing to be called a Republican these days.
Answer: LOL.....You would think..... but you know, in all fairness, both political sides have jerks, liars and adulterers as well. Basically, they are ALL crooks if you ask me. They really need some fresh blood in these offices, good solid people that care about people. Ones that put the interest of the people above big corporations..Oh, I know that individual would be very difficult to find, but I know they are out there, please step forward and claim your prize! In the meantime, yes, we have all these jerks runiing for the most important office there is, I agree.

What do you think of the Republican presidential candidates?
I despise Rick Perry, hes a total moron.
I dont trust Herman Cain, and hes too wishy-washy on the issues (says something one day, something completely different the next).
I dont agree with Mitt Romney on a whole lot but I like him more than Perry and Cain.
Michele Bachmann is just awful - she is not a champion of liberty. I mean, come on, she wants to ban pornography!
Jon Huntsman and Gary Johnson are pretty decent candidates, but neither one has a chance of winning.
Newt Gingrich does well in the debates and has some great answers but I disagree with him on too many things to vote for him, Im afraid.
Rick Santorum isnt the worst candidate, but hes definitely pretty far down on my list. He seems like a genuinely nice fellow, but his politics are pretty misled, in my view.
I plan to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries, but I dont think hes going to win. Just curious what you people think of the candidates. So without going into much detail, those are my opinions on the candidates!
Answer: Well, America only has 1 real choice. The rest of the field was already chosen for us. We have to choose NOT to allow the media to make this decision for us. It's Ron Paul or nobody. Little does the GOP know, but Paul's supporters will decide the outcome of the election. Answer: Mick is right about the banking system, but there is one other major issue that it seems is a taboo subject.......WARS!
Many American people are not discussing their true feelings about the wars openly, for fear of being chastised by peers, in my opinion.
Ron Paul is openly the only anti-war candidate & again imo, will get nominated and then elected on that anti-war platform.

What do Presidential candidates think of the new deal for immigration reform?
Hillary is going to study it, McCain is in favor of it, and:
"Mitt Romney, another Republican presidential hopeful, issued a statement calling the plan “the wrong approach,” saying it conferred “a form of amnesty” on illegal immigrants. “That is unfair to the millions of people who have applied to legally immigrate to the U.S.,” the former Massachusetts governor said.
Former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee, who is weighing a presidential bid, said the measure should be scrapped in favor of one that secures the border.
“With this bill, the American people are going to think they are being sold the same bill of goods as before on border security,” Thompson said in a statement.
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois said the compromise needs work.
“Without modifications, the proposed bill could devalue the importance of family reunification, replace the current group of undocumented immigrants with a new undocumented population consisting of guest workers who will overstay their visas, and potentially drive down wages of American workers,” Obama said in a statement."
What do YOU think of the plan?
