Why should I stay away from windows during a Severe Thunderstorm?

The Nation Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and said to stay away from windows. Why should I do this?
Answer: 1. Thunderstorms are almost always accompanied by high winds which can drive debris through windows, shattering them. 2. Sometimes you get hail with thunderstorms, which can also shatter windows. 3. Lightning does weird things if it strikes a building. If you have any metal in your window frames or screens, lightning has actually been documented to jump from plumbing pipes to windows on its way to ground, even though the pipe seems the better path. 4. With a lightning strike close enough, the thunderclap can shatter glass. 5. Lastly, with severe thunderstorms comes the chance of tornado.

Freezing weather even in Florida, may actually be evidence of Global Warming in that as the polar caps melt the cold atmosphere resulting from this event has to go somewhere else such as from North to South in this case. Cold air flows into warm air supplanting it from underneath -- basic physics and chemistry.

You might want to avoid downloading any kinda programs that are weather related because there are simpler ways of getting it and are safer. Putting a bookmark for the weather channel with the zip code or city saved. Another thing is if you have windows vista or 7, you can have it on your desktop with gadgets.

Answer: The british invaded ireland in the early 14th century with the plantations firstly of county loath and offally they increased there power of ireland throught the next few decades adventuly ruling all of ireland . the irish tried on multiple times to over throw british rule in ireland but of course being such a small country it was nigh imposible . the strugle for freedom in irealnd never stopped from the time of the first plantations untill 1921 . many great men and women steped up and offerd there lifes to freee the ireland wolfe tone in 1798 sought to unite all religons in ireland and rid it of the crown . he died on the 7th nov 1798 killing himself in a british prison as they refused to treat him as a prisioner of war . Of course the famine in ireland was a pivitol point with the crown using the hunger blight to influeince irish people to submit to the crown and furthermore change there religion . another rebillion took place in 1848 this was called the famine rebelion at most a few hunderd men with no more than picks trying to over power the british police force RIC . the most historical rebelion was in 1916 led by leaders such as emon develara , james connely. padrig pearce , etc etc(who was american born thankfully so for him as this was the only reason they didnt shoot him) . they took over the main buildings in dublin and held the british at bay for 7 days but the power the british had was to much . after the events of 1916 the british arrested over 2000 men and women they shot over 300 of them for treason to the crown . one of them they shot was james conely who they straped to a chair as he could not stand after being wounded in battle . micheal collins was involved in the rising but thankfully they did not kill him as he was one of the leaders in the new venture to over throw the britsh Along then came the IRA formaly The IRB . they started using gurellia warfare tactics it was the only way the small army had any chance to defeat the britsih . the irish citizens who were not involved in the strugle for freedom were involved in there own strugle to survive the british seen the irish as second class citizens and treated them in calaus inhuman ways .an example of this would be one of the bloody sundays - in 1921 the briths drove 2 tanks into croke park (a football ground ) they open fire and killed inocent people . Soon after the tit for tat warfar the irish killing soldiers the british opening fire on civilians , the british asked to talk after more than 700 years they agred to talk the outcome was they offerd 26 of the 32 countys we could have our own parliment however we would have to swear otah of alligince to the crown . of course this cause outrage amoungst the irish people who wanted complet freedom from british rule . after a vote was taken on the treaty in the dail (parliment) i think the vote was something like 52 for the treaty 48 against . the leader of the against vote was emaon develara who walked out and refused to be apart of any goverment which was ivolved in anyway with britain . this cause the a civil war in ireland with the freestaters and the republicans thankfully it did not last for long sadly however micheal collins was shot dead by most probaly his own men in 1922 . in 1936 after develar had won the irish vote he ebolished the oath of alligince to the crown and ultimitely made ireland a republic sadly excluding the 6 countys of the north of ireland which to this day remain under british rule . as for australia and india sorry hope this helps good luck

OK all you R&S know it alls, help me out. Is weather warfare real?

I asked this in weather but havent gotten any real answers and I know theres a handful of really bright people here with lots of specialized knowledge. So I saw this History Channel doc about manipulating the weather (everything from making it rain, to causing earthquakes). The show focused mostly on possible wartime scenarios in which manipulating the weather would be advantageous and then slid full force into full blown conspiracy theory talking about the Chinese causing Hurricane Katrina and the Russians causing the California drought and earthquake of the early 90s. Now Ive grown so used to History Channel letting me down by broadcasting all this pseudoscientific garbage (eg. "Quest for Noahs Ark", "Hunting Bigfoot", "The UFO Files" etc) so Im having a hard time buying this crap about specific scenarios in which specific nations employed weather warfare against the US or any other nation. Im curious whether its even possible, and how far advanced the technology is today. I understand that weather manipulation in its wartime applications would be rather classified given issues of national security, but surely the greater scientific community must have some literature out there. Any help?
Answer: No, it is not real. Yet. It is certainly possible to affect the weather - after all, if it weren't, there would be nothing for the scientists to study. But so far, there is no way to control for certain what specific outcomes will be produced by a given set of changes. Not even HAARP can do that yet. Some researchers claim that it will never be possible, given the weather system's highly non-linear response characteristics. That is, we can make changes, but it may never be possible to accurately control those changes.
