If you are attacked on the way to get an abortion, should the attacker be charged with two murders?

I feel that the laws covering an unborn child are very hypocritical and wonder what would happen if a woman was killed on her way to get an abortion? If you are pregnant and are killed, the person responsible is charged with two deaths because two people were killed. (please see: Scott Peterson) If you dont want the kid for whatever reason(cant take care of it, raped, it will be a medical burden, etc...), its no longer two people, its the womans medical decision to get rid of a bunch of cells, no mater the development. Now I understand a regular abortion can only be performed up to I think 3 months but after that all you need is a doctor to say you mentally incapable of having the child or if theres a medical issue with the child/mother you cant be granted a late term abortion of a non-person. This seems like such a to suit your own purposes hypocritical twist in laws. Shouldnt it all be murder or none of it? I can see an argument being medical necessity but in the sense of someone being mentally incapable of having a child, cant you argue that you can abort anyone that makes you insane, born or unborn? Answer: If a woman is on her way to have an abortion, she can still, at anytime before the procedure actually begins, change her mind. If she is attacked and killed, how does the attacker know she would not have changed her mind and decide at the last minute to keep the child?

Answer: Good list, but I'd remove the last item about Rumsfeld. It may or may not be true, but it isn't a proven fact, so it really doesn't belong with a list of factual convictions. I remember reading about several of the convictions, and I don't doubt that the rest occurred, but I'd like to see links to back them up. Otherwise you're likely to have Republicans claiming you made them up. They're certainly not above that tactic, since their first response will be to engage in personal attacks against you, the messenger.

Guilty pleas to third-degree murder were entered by Adrienne Moton, 34, and Sherry West, 52, who both worked for Dr. Kermit Gosnell at what prosecutors have described as a decrepit and unsanitary clinic known as Womens Medical Society in West Philadelphia. Due to a court-issued gag order, attorneys declined to comment on reports that no plea agreement was reached in the case. Sentencing was set for December 2 by Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner. The maximum penalty for third-degree murder is 40 years in prison. Seven more defendants face charges in the case, including Gosnell, who a grand jury in January said, "killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy -- and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors." The grand jury said that a clinic co-worker of Motons testified that a woman gave birth to a large baby at the clinic, delivering the child into a toilet. The jurors identified the newborn as "Baby D." The jurors said the co-worker told them that the baby was moving and looked like it was swimming. "Moton reached into the toilet, got the baby out and cut its neck," the grand jury said in its report. West was accused of murder in the death of a 41-year-old patient, Karnamaya Mongar. "The evidence presented to the grand jury established that Karnamaya Mongar died of cardiac arrest because she was overdosed with Demerol," the grand jurors said. The grand jury said West and another employee administered the drug at Gosnells direction and that Mongar died as a result of "wanton reckless conduct."
Answer: WTF is the Grand Jury doing talking? Why are they releasing details? Sorry this is a Law and Ethics section and that struck me as something isn't right about them talking like that. I want to know how liberal compassionates would answer to this. We know where they stand on abortion. So lets see what they would answer. Let me put the question a little differently. If you liberals compassionate lovers of abortion were in your mothers womb, not yet born, and someone killed your mother with you in her belly, would you want that murderer to be charged twice? Come on you abortion lovers, answer the question. Better yet what does Obama think? We know what he would do if a baby were born alive after surviving the attempted murder of the doctor. He would finish off the baby. And the liberals want coservatives to be compassionate?

I have read about a man who got charged with two counts of murder because he killed a woman who wasnt even two months pregnant at the time. Does this mean that doctors have a special right to killing babies? I thought everyone was equal under the law. Oh how foolish of me. I forgot it is illegal for a normal person to kill a "lump of cells" but legal for doctors to do it.
Answer: I think abortion is distasteful. But then I think all meat is distasteful. Ground up human meat is particularly so since I empathize with humans a bit more than I do with hamburger. I think sex without a concern for the consequences (without responsibility) is wrong and such people should be fixed. We fix pets out of humanitarian reasons, I should think fixing people would even be stronger humanitarian reasons. Unwanted pets is sad enough, unwanted children is monumentally worse. From a moral standpoint, euthanizing animals is worse than fixing them. After all, killing is worse than cutting off procreation (or am I wrong?). Isn't it strange that we find euthanizing fetuses more acceptable than sterilizing irresponsible prospective parents? We basically find killing more acceptable than fixing.

The baby is half the father. A son or daughter or several of the two could not form in the womb with out the seed from a male. Why is no one saying that the father has ANY say so concerning aboortion, pro or con? If the man wants his baby to go to full term and be born, does the mother still have the right to pay a doctor to kill the unborn baby? If the man wants the baby aborted and the woman does not. what then? Incredibly, even with President Bush at an all-time low, we are watching the Democratic Party in Washington fulfill all these definitions and more. Let's just forget about the fact that congressional Democrats refuse to take a serious position on the Iraq War - the most pressing national security issue of the day. Let's forget about what a joke it is for the party to think it is going to compete on national security without taking a serious, contrasting position on the war. Let's even forget about the fact that the party is still too afraid to do this while polls have now shown for 3 years that the American public wants a change of direction on war policy. First, you saw the House Democratic Leadership publicly pee down its leg in knee-shaking fright, removing a major report on Republican corruption from its website. Why? Yes, you are right - but today's congressional Democrats are apparently so afraid of their own shadow, so self-absorbed and comfortable in the minority, that they are afraid even to bait the GOP into doing what they should want them to do. Then, yesterday, you saw Democratic Senators run for cover when one of their own - Sen. Russ Feingold (D) - courageously asked the U.S. Senate to stand up and defend the Constitution by censuring the president for breaking the law with his illegal, no-court-order domestic wiretapping scheme. Again, polls show the public believes the president should have to get a court order, and should not be able to simply make up laws on his own. Yet, Senate Democrats - cowering in fear in the comfortable confines of the Senate cloakroom - refused to back up Feingold. The specific reactions were predictable, but no less nauseating. The Washington Post gave voice to the omnipotent Democratic "strategists" - you remember, those are the professional political hacks who have run the party straight into the ground: "Several Democratic strategists said surveillance issues are not Bush's most vulnerable spot, and they fear the party may appear extremist. 'It is more likely that a big censure fight would have the effect of rallying folks to his side,' said one Democratic strategist and former Clinton aide. 'While some in the Democratic base want retribution for what happened to Clinton,' the adviser said, 'I think there is a larger reluctance to try to remove people from office.'" First of all, no one was "trying to remove people from office" - it was a censure motion. But more importantly, you just have to sit back and say "wow." What a way to back up a courageous move, huh? Send out the unnamed party "strategists" to torpedo any sign of strength. It's so predictably pathetic it's hard to even be outraged anymore. Then there was Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) who the AP reports "said he had not read [the resolution] and wasn't inclined simply to scold the president." Now that's showing "strength" huh? When you look at all this, you really think you are watching a Saturday Night Live skit about a political party. It's just so ridiculous, so pathetic, so inane that the people who are behaving this way just HAVE to be joking. It just HAS to be a comedy sketch. But it isn't. Here you have President Bush at 36 percent in the latest Gallup poll. That is "a record low" with "the decline showing mostly among independents, with a substantial decline also found among Republicans," according to the Associated Press. Here you also have Vice President Dick Cheney with an 18 percent favorability rating, according to the latest CBS poll And yet, Democrats, like paranoid deranged totally-out-of-touch lunatics, are hiding in the shadows, afraid to do anything. Look, I'd like to believe this is going to work as an election strategy, because I'd like to see Democrats win in 2006. But here's the thing: I live in the real world, not the Washington bubble. Expecting voters to be so stupid and so naive that they will vote for a political party that portrays itself as this weak is, again, something out of a Saturday Night Live skit. E.J. Dionne put it best in a recent column: "Democrats are so obsessed with not looking 'weak' on defense that they end up making themselves look weak, period, by the way they respond to Republican attacks on their alleged weakness." The same could be said for all other issues. There are so many invertebrates walking around calling themselves Democrats in Washington these days - whether politicians, staffers, or consultants - that being weak and pathetic have become synonymous with the party label in our nation's capital. And while Democrats may rightly berate the Republicans' "culture of corruption," they have a lot bigger problems dealing with their own "culture of weakness." The question, then, of the 2006 election is really simple: will voters support the GOP's culture of corruption, or will they support Democrats culture of weakness? Because, regardless of what blowhards like Charlie Cook or wishful-thinking Democratic consultants say, that's exactly what this election is going to be about. Democrats will air lots of commercials hammering the GOP for the corruption scandals, and the GOP will air lots of commercials hammering Democrats for having no positions at all on major issues. You can already see their strategy - just look at how House Speaker Denny Hastert recently aired this message loud and clear. Frankly, that's an awful comparison for Democrats. People certainly hate corruption, but polls show most believe both parties are corrupt. And people would likely rather have a corrupt party running the show, then one that is so weak, so indecisive, and so needlessly frightened of its own shadow that it can't take the most basic stands. the assailent was charged with two counts of murder. One count for killing the woman and one count for killing the unborn child. I agree with the two murder counts. What I dont understand is why some people regard killing this unborn child as murder but aborting an 8 mo. fetus/child isnt murder! Why would groups, (including womens rights groups) call this murder but the same womens rights groups are pro abortion? Is it because of who took the childs life? The manner taken? A life is a life, regardless of who volinterliy takes it. The child is innocent in both cases. This murderer evidently used a gun. A doctor (via the mothers approval) uses a scapel/knife and more. One way is by the mothers will, the other isnt, but the result is the same...death. A gunshot would cause the fetus little or no pain. Abortion is more inhuman than using a gun. Now tell me that abortion isnt murder!! Why??
Answer: I agree with you. I hope you keep expressing your point of view because I don't think it is the most popular. Killing of any kind is genocide, people killing people. I'm against abortion, war, all of it. It's not easy to hold these beliefs in such a violent world.
